Young adulthood is one of my favorite age groups to work with. It is an amazing time in life where one finally starts having a say in their own life and gets to start creating the future they desire. It is also a time of a lot of added stress, responsibility, and demands. This is the first time in history where parents truly cannot relate to the world that their children are living in and it can be a time of great discord with parents and other adults.
Some of my most fond memories have been working as School Social Worker in the high schools with young adults helping them to navigate these challenges and to figure out just who they want to be in this world. Although working in the school system allowed me the privileged to work with young adults, I often was not able to give the time and devotion to each student I wanted due to all the various demands on my time. I am now able to give my full attention to the young adults I work with and there is nothing that brings me more joy.
